Jurong Bird Park was opened in 1971, making it the oldest of the three main animal parks, but underwent a major S$10 million (US$7 million) overhaul just a few years ago.
The park which is fully landscaped is located on the western slope of Jurong Hill, & can be found within the Boon Lay Planning Area of the Jurong district and has a total land area of some 20 hectares (49 acres).
The Jurong Singapore Bird Park is an award winning world-famous bird zoo wherein there are specimens of magnificent bird life from around the world, including a flock of over one thousand flamingos.
