The National Museum of Singapore redefines the conventional museum experience by introducing cutting-edge technology to present Singapore’s history.
Established in 1849, previously known as the Raffles Library and Museum, the museum was a centre of knowledge and research. After Singapore’s independence in 1965, the focus shifted to collections of nation-building and the history of Singapore.
The museum consists of two main galleries. The Singapore Living Galleries comprise of the Photography gallery, the Food gallery, the Film gallery and the Fashion gallery.

Explore each of these galleries and experience the lives of our predecessors. See the clothes they wear, the movies they watch and more importantly, learn more about the culture of the olden Singapore.
The Singapore History Gallery, on the other hand, takes you on a journey through the 14th century to the modern times by adopting a story-telling approach as you travel through trails of the past.

"The Singapore Stone contains the earliest inscription found in Singapore"
There are two ‘paths’ to select. The events path traces major events and characters that were significant in Singapore’s history and the personal path tells a tale through the eyes of the man on the street.
The interesting thing about your journey here is that you will be accompanied by a companion. No, we’re not talking about a tour guide here.
The companion I’m referring to is an unique audio-visual state of the art equipment that allows you to choose your learning experience. With this, you can choose to hear and read about exhibits that interest you most.

Be prepared to take at least an hour to complete this tour. When you are tired, be sure to take a break at the Novus Café.
As you can see, the National Museum of Singapore has everything there is with regards to Singapore’s history and culture. Discover our nation’s history and relive its glorious historical moments.

Have you visited the National Museum in Singapore before/, we would love to hear from you, tell us about your great memories of the museum, so that we may share with our other readers!.
