The Night Safari, a nocturnal park in Singapore, houses over 1000 animals with 135 species in zones created to simulate places like the Southeast Asian rainforest, African savanna and the Burmese jungle.
Officially opened in May 1994, I’m proud to announce that this is the world’s first night zoo. From Indian rhinoceros to Malayan tapirs, and African lions to an anteater, the animals are exhibited by making use of lighting that resembles the moonlight.
The Night Safari is one of three "must visit" Animal Parks in Singapore, the other two being the Singapore Zoo & the Jurong Bird Park .These attractions are all award winning & world-class, with the natural habitat of the animals being replicated as much as possible.
Night Safari opens at 7pm.
Be ready to be greeted by tribal dance performance at the entrance and marvel at their amazing fire eating displays. Order a drink and enjoy the performance. There is also a photo taking session at the end of the show.
After the dance, feel free to visit the Safari shops. Here, you can find some cute souvenirs for your family and friends.
You may then make your way to the Creatures of the Night show, a key highlight of this night zoo.
The Creatures of the Night is an interesting show as visitors are asked not to use flashlight photography on the animals in order not to blind them. Watch the well-trained animals perform amazing tricks through the help of their trainers.
The show lasts for about half an hour.
After the show, take a tram ride to continue to explore Night Safari. The tram ride is about 45 minutes if you remain seated throughout the journey. Alternatively, you may alight at the Leopard Trail, where you can lookout for the clouded leopard, giant flying squirrels and the Malayan civet. You may continue the ride after visiting the trail.
In the coolness of the night, slowly browsing through the animals as the tram travels can be quite relaxing, especially when you feel a gentle breeze blowing through.
See the snake on the left?
Marvel at how mother nature takes care of the wild as you see the night animals resting and grazing peacefully.
Apart from the Leopard Trail, the Fishing Cat Trail and the Forest Giants Trail were two other foot trails located near to the tram station.
Tired? Don't forget to take a break at the Ulu Ulu Safari restaurant.
Having a drink or enjoying a hearty meal sure takes the tiredness away from you.
Have you visited the Singapore Night Safari before?, if you have, we would love to hear from you about any great memories of your visit!.
