The Singapore Zoo, previously known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens, is renowned for its ‘open concept’ whereby animals roam around with visitors. Sounds scary? Of course, animals like lions, tigers, crocodiles etc can’t just roam on the streets like the tamer ones. They are housed in enclosures though, instead of cages!.
Be sure to grab a map on your way in. It’s easier to explore the zoo this way and it sure helps if you plan… You may also download a pdf copy of the map here.
Make a trip to the Zoo over the weekend to have some fun.
The White Tiger exhibit is a must see exhibit. Watch them move around the open yet confined resting ground. They are simply stunning!.

Next, do visit the Australian Outback. Here, you can see kangaroos and wallabies hopping around freely. Kangaroos here love peanuts so remember to bring some for them. Don't feed them too much though.
What’s good about the Australian Outback is they have a washing point for you to wash your hands when you’re ready to move on!.

Do not miss Elephants At Work & Play show at the Elephants of Asia section of Singapore Zoo. Do be there about 20 minutes early if you want to find a seat with a good view of the elephants.
Enjoy the half an hour show and be amazed at how strong the elephants can be. One of them, named Aprila, can push a huge log with little effort.

Feeling a little peckish?, why not head on down to the "Ah Meng" restaurant, the obvious choice here. With a wide variety of food to choose from, you will surely enjoy your meal and your rest, especially after taking long, long walks around the Singapore Zoo.

"By the way, did I forget to mention about Ah Meng?
Ah Meng was Singapore’s most famous orangutan and a tourism icon of Singapore Zoo.
She was first selected to be part of the “Breakfast with an Orangutan” program, which sets her in the hearts of many of us.
You can say we grew up with Ah Meng. Ah Meng died at the age of 48 due to old age in 2008".

Other attractions in the zoo include the Cat Country, where there are lions and cheetahs. See also polar bears enjoying the cool atmosphere in their air-conditioned environment. The zoo is filled with animals of all sorts for your viewing pleasure.

if you're really starting to feel the strain from all the walking around the zoo, just "hail" the zoo tram & give your legs a well earned rest!, it also allows you to see more of the Zoo at a faster pace, whichever route you take to explore the Zoo - have a great day out!.
Have you already visited the Zoo?, if you have we would love to hear about your greatest memories of the zoo, plus any tips you can pass onto future visitors!.
