Valentine's Day in Singapore

Where do I celebrate Valentine's day in Singapore?

Valentine’s day is a wonderful chance for two people to profess and renew their vows of love annually.

Valentine weddings and proposals were once very popular in the USA still carry a lot of weight, regardless of whether it seals the union itself.

This western culture has gained a lot of popularity in Asia and Singapore definitely not one to be left behind does so with great pomp and glamour.

It is common knowledge that young lovers feels more tuned to celebrate and Singapore is no different. It does send a tickle down my spine while watching young teenagers walking around with huge red heart balloons, flowers and gifts packed in bright red colours that are indicative of a full and love filled heart.

It is a bit of a joyful day in another sense also for gift shops and stores. You don’t really have to look too far to spot the deals because they all scream out in "Red". The most romantic thing to do on Valentine’s is a very relative subject, it depends largely on how much one can afford and how much in love they are.

Where do I celebrate Valentine's day in Singapore?

Personally I like the outdoors or at least the sense of it. A quiet evening under the stars with a bottle of red wine works just as well as an expensive dinner at the New Asia bar in the Swissotel. Both of them have a great view.

To take a step further is to plan a dinner atop Mount Faber in the Jewel box, they throw in a cable car ride as well. Singapore by night is very beautiful and being somewhere that high with the stars above you and the city lights below you are my idea of an ideal romantic evening.

The Singapore flyer also has romantic dinners where you can book one of their cabins and break open a bottle of champagne and truly feel on top of the world.

Marina bay sands Skypark with its magnificent “Ku de ta” is another place to have a dinner with a view. All information and deals on Valentine’s Day at each venue can be found on their respective websites.

Almost every restaurant in Singapore will have a Valentine’s special. A country like Singapore that has new and unique restaurants springing up all the time it can really be a very tough choice. So it is best to go with your gut feeling, call the restaurant of your choice and check on the deals they have for Valentine’s day. After all any place with your loved one is romantic, right?

How you gonna celebrate Valentine's day in Singapore?

This year Valentine’s day falls on a Tuesday so for most couples it is a working day. But if you are one of the lucky ones who can spare a day of leave, how about having a fantastic relaxed day with your sweetheart at a spa. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Singapore is something that should be on your bucket list even if you cannot make it this Valentine.

They have a vitality pool attached to an exclusive couple’s room and massages and aromatherapy sessions thrown in for 2 and a half hours for $1000+ . You want to go a little easier on your pockets you can try Spa Botanica at Sentosa for $550+ and savour a choco aromatherapy session, invigorating foot massage with their usual relaxing body massage. Estheva at Orchard Road also offers great couple massage deals throughout the year, even if you don’t make it on Valentine’s day.

How about a little island getaway to nearby Sentosa which hosts a valentine’ party every year on the beach. If you are not really up to a lot of social mingling on Valentine’s Day maybe a sunset cruise with your loved one may be the answer. The cruise leaves Raffles Marina at 5pm and is a private cruise with a 3-course candlelight dinner and champagne and passes to the four islands around Singapore, St Johns, Kusu, Serimbun and Lazarus and this year it is at $499 per couple. Tickets can be bought at the booking office in Jalan Sultan, Textile centre, #12-02.

I do agree that some of the deals no matter how amazing and tempting can get a bit expensive especially if you are planning on doing it year after year. In times like that a movie night may be the perfect answer. $149 can get you movie tickets for two in Gold Class, a bottle of Chardonnay, a delicious pre-packed meal and a romantic couch seating while watching your favourite shows.
